After an unusual year of sport to say the least, we are writing to you with an update on the College Sport Clubs and our focus on sport in general within the College.

The Bishop Tyrrell Netball Club held its AGM in October. At this meeting, we farewelled three of the executive committee members – President Kim Ambler, Secretary Karen Crisp and Registrar Monique Smith. We thank these ladies for their fine service to the Netball Club in 2020 and in previous years. They have left the Club in a financially and operationally strong position for 2021.

The Bishop Tyrrell Basketball Club did not put forward teams in the Winter Competition in 2020 due to the difficulties posed by the COVID situation at the time. However, 5 teams were entered in the Summer Competition during Term 4. We thank Belinda Vardy, President, for her ongoing excellent organisation and involvement with the Club.

The College is currently undertaking a Review of our Sporting structures and involvement with a view and a commitment to enhancing the opportunities available for students of the College. Both the Netball and Basketball Clubs have been well-supported by our students and the College community over many years. We will be investing in ways to keep the Clubs as successful, College-run ventures in 2021 and beyond. We seek your continued support of the Clubs in 2021. Further information will be circulated in the near future about registration for 2021 teams and the structure and governance of the Clubs. We will of course be seeking continued parental involvement in our Clubs, both in administration and coaching.

Thank you to all who have supported our sporting endeavours in 2020, limited though they have been. We wish you an enjoyable finish to the school year.
